As with wedding vows, the questions are known to the candidates beforehand, and the men wouldn’t be there if they weren’t prepared to say yes! But that ‘yes’ before the bishop, and the witnesses in the congregation who represent the Body of Christ, is a significant part of their commitment, along with the laying on of hands by the bishop.
