A Miraculous Prayer in Times of Pandemic
A devastating plague broke out in Lisbon in 1432*. Residents fled the cities in terror and carried the lethal plague to every corner of Portugal. It was so deadly and intense that people died everywhere; bodies soon littered the streets, the churches and the markets.
Bishop Andre Dias assisted to the sick and dying. He urged the despairing to call upon the Holy Name of Jesus. He said: "Repeat Jesus, Jesus." Write it on cards, keep those cards on your person; place them under your pillow; place them above your doors, but above all constantly invoke with your lips and in your hearts this powerful Name." The Bishop also blessed water in the Holy Name of Jesus and asked all to douse themselves with it and sprinkle it on the sick and dying.
The news spread to the entire country and all began to call upon the Holy Name of Jesus. In a matter of days, Portugal was freed from the disease.
In times of trouble or dangers, when evil threatens, or when pandemics appear, invoke the Holy Name of Jesus.
